Steve: Phew that's a relief, a new post.
Yes I suppose I was talking about Sunday/Monday originally but this seems easier if I can blag a lift one way - it saves a lot of time. It will still be Sunday Monday but just Saturday as well!

Tim: OK...
1) I've booked two more tickets for Sunday.
2) I'm available, say, Saturday and Sunday, or Sunday and Monday. Whichever fits in with you two, let me know. I can get to Basingstoke or whatever, and/or you two can come down here, as appropriate. For catering and sleeping arrangements (still a bit ad-hoc here, but we can fit you both in) a bit of notice would be handy.
3) Nick, probably I can't do an evening ride this week after all, sorry.
Where does that get us, then?

nick: ok thanks for booking the tickets Tim. I spoke with the credit card company : looks like the card was stopped when they went over my limit, which meant they spent around £7,000. I can't use the card again until I've made a formal signed declaration about which transactions were fraudulent, and I can't do that until I've had the written list from them, so I'm waiting for that.
I am on steward duty next Sunday morning, so maybe it would make sense for Steve to be overnight at Tim's Sat/Sun? Although you'd be welcome to come to church on Sunday morning if you wanted.
OK no problem with the ride Tim, Tuesday was probably awkward anyway.

Steve: OK so I will do the Friday thing as mentioned, stay at Nick's, empty the larder etc. Tim if you do the Saturday/Sunday I can go back Sunday evening. I'll bring the bike; it's starting to do my head in with the moving of people/bikes between venues :)
Tim: Right, progress.
So, what cycling are we doing? E.g. I could bring my bike up on the train Saturday and we could ride back... or something, I dunno, too complicated.

nick: OK how about as an initial suggestion
1) Steve & me back to Basingstoke on Friday.
2) Tim comes on Sat am with bike Micheldever [tbc]
3) Steve & me cycle to Hedge End on Saturday
4) [tbc, depends on 2] with tim
5) I go back to Basingstoke on Saturday evening, on
train, taking bike with me
6) I come to Hedge End on Sunday, on train, taking
bike with me
7) Steve & I cycle back to Basingstoke on Sunday
8) with tim, he if fancies it, in which case Tim
gets train back Sunday evening [tbc]

Steve: It's audacious, I like it. It also means Nick and I do twice as many miles as Tim which is fair. And we don't use cars very much at all. I'd better get that railcard then.
Engineering works okay for this?
Engineering works okay for this?
Steve: OK thanks (eng works).
BTW went to see Roger Waters last night as an ex-colleague called me about a 2-for-1 offer. Very high up in the O2 but central. Annoyingly some big cables led up from the sound desk to the ceiling cutting the view in half for a lot of us. Luckily I didn't know the set-list else I wouldn't have gone, I started to get worried when I saw a t-shirt saying '2008 Dark Side of the Moon Tour'. The first half was a set to die for including Set the Controls, Sheep, Have a Cigar, Wish You Were Here and highlight of Perfect Sense I+II from Amused to Death. Second half was DSotM pretty note-perfect but I don't go to concerts for this sort of thing. Encores of Another Brick, Vera, Boys Back Home, Comfortably Numb.
So absolutely brilliant non-Dark Side stuff and if he tours without that in the set-list it is going to be great but still not worth the full price of £50-60. Last night was worth £30; tired today though.
On the weekend front, it is difficult to get to the gig from yours then without a car Tim? And yours seats 2?

nick: I'd forgotten all about the concert. OK scrap my itinerary. Over to someone else to suggest an alternative.
Yes, I knew he was going to play the whole of DSoTM (Phil told me). I saw Pink Floyd do this (did you come, Steve?) and didn't really find it very interesting.

Steve: Yes 'not very interesting' is a good description. I have seen Floyd do it and it seems a bit pointless - like their live albums. The other tracks had a powerful raw edge to them.
Alternative is we drive down Sat with bikes and spare clothes to Tim's. Do a ride (can we see the sea at all?). Nick leaves me there for an all-night post-gig session. Nick turns up Sunday lunchtime via train and we both bike back in the late afternoon. Having previously remembered to take a rucksack to carry my Saturday gig clothes back in.

nick: yes, geoff judd is coming to the gig but he's making his own way there. Current arrangement is to meet him there at 8pm (maybe that's a bit early? but when we went to AH we missed the beginning: it seems like they have an early start on Sunday evenings)
On Sunday I am doing steward duty, which ends around 12. After that I'm free (in Basingstoke; can start making my way to Hedge End then)

Steve: I knew that!?!
So back to Nick's plan? But he comes down Sunday by car with his bike and clothes and drives me back to his to sleep; I go home from Basing Mon morning.

Tim: I'll have a look at the map later to see if there's a decent ride to Lee on Solent. What sort of bikes will you be on?
Steve: I'm happy to bring either MTB or road. I quite fancy some dry off-road if it is required. I'll bring my trunks then.
Steve: Er can we make it road please? I just went out on the MTB and it has something wrong with it - probably needs a new bottom bracket and it won't be fixed before then.
nick: road bike would suit me better too - I still haven't sorted out the front gear on my MTB.
So what's the latest plan then?
So what's the latest plan then?
Tim: Meet at Micheldever, 11 am?
Cycle from there to Hedge End, late lunch.
Afternoon at leisure.
Nick training back home, presumably after dinner, let me know if not.
Sunday, Nick arrives with car and bike in time for lunch. Some sort of ride tba, distance depending on state of legs. After dinner Nick ferries us and two bikes to/from the Brook /HE /NW.
That's all we've got so far AFAIK?

nick: sounds like a good plan to me.
might be a bit cramped with three lads and two bikes in the car on Sunday evening - also means leaving bikes/car unattended while we're in the Brook, so perhaps an alternative would be leave bikes at HE and pick them up after dropping Tim off after the concert?

Steve: Sounds good apart from one thing - the weather :) I may bring the old road bike again at this rate (mudguards). Nick we'll do a 20-mile before we see Tim Saturday to handicap ourselves.
Tim: FWIW the forecast's not looking bad for tomorrow. If it's grim on Sunday I dare say we can find something else to do.
See you at MD.
See you at MD.
Steve: Well done lads for the weekend entertainments. I'm starting to improve health-wise and have spent some time faffing about. spent ages trying to use one of those soundcards you gave me a while back Tim but it was too much effort to get Linux to use it (I want to build a new system I can place by the hi-fi for LP recording). Camping tomorrow so weather important again.
BTW have been playing Incantations 4 a bit lately. It's the singing that runis the album for me, otherwise it's very clever.

Steve: Damn forgot the main point - if the shed is going spare we will happily take it.
And how cool is THIS?. Put in LU2 9DP. Hmm it's broken now I retry it - have a go anyway - thermal imaging of Luton houses.

Tim: Hi, yes, the shed's all yours. Can you collect it on the way back from camping? ;-)
BTW I see I've still got Gel-Sol Unifactor, didn't amalgamate it with the others I foisted on you.

Tim: BTW I got a few extra curtain hooks and tidied everything up a bit and it all looks pretty good now, thanks, good work both. Tina says can you put up a few bookshelves next time?
Apart from a few error messages and random non-functionality I managed to find Steve's house on the thermal map. Green means low heat loss, meaning good insulation...or just low heat.
Where's the extension??

Steve: Tim, can you please measure the shed panels so that I can work out the transport options - currently I'm thinking too big for the trailer. We can get the CD rack at the same time. BTW the cold is still going so this is probably the worst one I've had - unless it's two-in-a-row.
Steve: Actually it is THIS Sunday we are thinking of, next Sunday is the ridiculous Fathers Day. Silly me.
BTW we have now taken over Solstice Software officially and of course we now have the difficult task of trying to merge the two office IT-wise.
