Tim:  1st or 8th
Steve,
8th is starting to look better from my point of view than 1st. But not critical. How does it look at your end?

Comments:
Blogger nick: Sorry I can't make it. but my reply will cause an email to be sent, in case Steve hadn't noticed the new topic.

Came across this wikipedia section the other day. Well, I never knew that.

Blogger Tim: No, I never heard of that either. Might be interesting to investigate.

(And no, you're the only one who gets emails.)

Blogger Steve: Yes sorry, a bit slow on this thinking of the work/calendar implications. I can do the 8th if you like. Please say for definite so I can move the holiday booking.

That printer thing is an eye-opener. Next time I do a ransome note...

Blogger Tim: OK, I'm double-checking that I can get leave, will post again here later.

Blogger Tim: This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

Blogger Tim: We have clearance, Clarence.

Blogger Steve: OK 8th it is then, I'll be available from 12:30 onwards I reckon.

BTW just read Angels Flight by Michael Connelly - rivetting police murder investigation with believable twists. Can't seem to fault this author. Also read Certain Prey by John Sandford about trying to find a mafia hitman; ditto on his writing.

Blogger Tim: Ah yes, books. Just finished Vol 1 of Churchill. It's early 1940, we've pulled out of Norway and Germany have just invaded Holland and Belgium. At about the same time (not sure which day exactly, maybe the day before) Chamberlain has resigned and Winnie's gonna be the new PM. Good reading, I'll have a short break before getting the next one in. In the meantime, The House Of Sleep, and then maybe start another Murakami I've got on the shelf.

Blogger nick: John Sandford - yes I've read a few of his. If you've not read it, then "Eyes of Prey" is another good one.

My Aesthetics class last night was about music, and in the coffee break we were talking about what we liked. I think this was the most animated I've known the class to be: just goes to show how much music means to people. A large number of the people there (including some of the women) were into rock, and there was agreement about the stuff that you listened to as a teenager being significant. Made me want to read "The Rotters' Club" again. Tim you are really missing out by not enjoying Jonathan Coe!

Blogger nick: and my php script needs debugging, it has gone wrong trying to process the "aesthetics" book by anne sheppard.

Blogger Steve: Tim, on the CD front I have checked my credit card and they have only taken money for the 4 CDs they sent me so I only managed to get Surface Tension for you in the end. They haven't answered my email so I'm not sure if they are a reliable outfit although the sale still looks good. Maybe you want to try sourcing those FAXes elsewhere.

Blogger Tim: OK Steve, that's fine, thanks. I'll assume the others won't turn up, but then if they do then no worries either.

Blogger Tim: Books latest: finished House of Sleep, not bad. Started another Murakami, and whereas the previous two were tantalisingly surreal, this one is just completely out there. Meanwhile Churchill 2 is in the post.

Music news: em:t records have gone bust, again! Is this a, er, record?

Blogger Steve: Tim, what's the lineup for the 8th, some meet around lunchtime I imagine? Don't mind where we go.

Blogger Tim: Yeah, I should be able to get to Waterloo for 11:20 or 11:50, can meet wherever you fancy.

Don't mind how many (/few) places we trawl around but it would be nice to go to Rough Trade (Neal's Yard) and Selectadisc later on, after bargain hunting, when I know if I've got any money left. Or bag space.

Blogger Tim: ....or maybe 12:20.

Blogger Tim: OK then, how about we say Camden Town, 12:50-ish?

Blogger Steve: Perfect, tube station it is with the other 5000 people :)

Has anyone seen Look Around You the spoof 1970s/80s school programme. Check out the great periodic table on Wikipedia, I wish you could buy them.

And of course:

Happy birthday Nick!

Blogger Tim: Yes, happy birthday Nick, absolutely. I bet you wish you were coming tomorrow. If you're really lucky we'll buy you a dreadful CD.

Steve, no haven't seen it, and which PTable?

Blogger Steve: Yes duff info there (from Paul I think), the ref to a periodic table on the Wiki entry goes to a standard one. Here's the Look Around You one - I printed it out and keep noticing more funny things on there. See HERE

There are even jokes in the numbers used, e.g. Copper.
