nick:  scarlatti shmarlatti
After coming across a couple of rave reviews, I realised that I hadn't got given this for Christmas, so have just ordered it from Amazon. Anyone else like Scarlatti apart from me? Actually maybe I should have checked one of those Russian websites but it would probably have taken longer to download than it will to come in the post.

Blogger Tim: Yes, I've thought about getting that occasionally. But I can't imagine getting around to playing it all, that's the trouble. Let us know how you get on.

Blogger Steve: How much stuff do you get for Christmas if you just realised you didn't get it (a huge box-set)! I've never got into it, I quite like the harpsichord but in very small doses.

Did a slightly longer on-road route yesterday (25 miles?) and pushed myself, reckon I'm almost up to last year's fitness level. Need to lose weight though as I have just crossed the 13stone line. I have been down to 12st 4lb in the last year. Yes muscle is heavier than fat but I don't have any muscle to speak of. I'm going to laughably try to avoid eating biscuits and therefore this morning's cup of tea was particularly sad.

Blogger nick: I gave up eating crisps last year (2005), and this year have also given up eating confectionary. I'm not sure it's working - I am eating more snacks, e.g. cereal + toast before going to bed. And I've definitely not lost weight. Plus I quite miss minstrels etc..

Another food related book on the horizon by Eric Schlosser - there's an extract in today's paper. It seems a bit like Fast Food Nation pt2.

Blogger nick: I tried posting yesterday but it doesn't seem to have worked, so here goes again (apologies if this is a repeat)

The Guardian has some features on Eric Schlosser's new book.

Blogger Tim: "Repeating the same ad for a product is more effective than running a variety of different ads."

Blogger Steve: SMD have all MAIN section albums at £3 off for the rest of today, anyone want anything? I'll probably be ordering.

Blogger Tim: Well, if you get round to it, I wouldn't mind these two:

SPYRA / MEDITATIONEN

SPYRA & CHRIS LANG / ACHTUNDSECHZIG 24

You can give them first listen if you do order. No probs if you don't, cheers!
