Steve: Some Joy
Well I got it installed but only using the default partition layout and after pressing 'Ignore' on a load of errors. It runs but is so slow as to be unusable. It's an AMD K6 (like P3?) 450MHz but with only 128MB of RAM and that's including video. Got any old video cards? so not sure what to do, maybe go back to Win98 and buy a cheap box like nick did for Linux.
We must be going over the 2GB limit as Paul keeps downloading MP3 samples and listening to the radio.
Had a great weekend and got about 50% of my fence replaced with concrete hardware (so shouldn't need doing again). Got two short rides in as well.

nick: What if you boot your linux box to runlevel 3 instead of 5, and log in from your windows box using ssh or telnet? Is it still slow then? If you are planning on using X11 then I suppose that isn't a long term solution but it may give you an idea of whether it's the graphics that's causing the problem.
