Tim: Progress report
Well, according to Dell, on Tuesday evening the status of my laptop was "ordering parts" but then last night things had radically changed (been corrected) and they'd shipped - according to UPS my box was at Shannon airport. This morning it's made it via East Midlands airport to the Eastleigh depot and is now in a delivery van, so I'll have a card on the doormat when I get in and a trip to Eastleigh to look forward to.
Plusnet say BT are due to Broadband me on Tuesday. All that leaves me to do, then, is to pick up my Netgear PCI card from the local Royal Mail office and I'm fixed up.
What could possibly go wrong?

nick: I'm sure you've got this covered, but just in case - do you have microfilters for each of your phone sockets? I guess you may have got at least one with your modem/router, but you need one per phone-point so you don't lose your connection every time Tina makes a phone call...
Tim: Cheers. The modem/router turned up with a handy socket-splitter with two microfilters built in (labelled "phone" and "modem", just to make sure I got the point).
BTW Ico sequel due out later this year to be called Shadow of the Colossus, in Europe.
