Tim: Birchville Cat Motel
...is a guy by the name of Campbell Kneale from New Zealand doing a great line in drone/ambient/noise. And until recently most of his releases have been CDRs on his own label in tiny editions. So that's right up my street - the hunt is on! And I bet you can't wait to borrow some stuff :-)
Speaking of which, Steve, is it worth me bringing a few CDs (Elektrolux and the like) for Paul and perhaps you to borrow? Oh, and there's a queue for that Monolake CD so bring it if you remember.
Nick, I'll aim for about 10:30 at your place on Saturday, does that sound OK?
And how's it looking for CC tonight?

Steve: Yes I think we're ready for a batch of CDs to evaluate. Paul gets more time than me - there's usually something interesting coming out of the PC speakers when he's surfing (which is a lot due to his MSN addiction). I need to take him to Music & Video Exchange as I'm getting out of touch.
The Monolake is a good solid album but I prefer Interstate. Will try to remeber it. BTW tell your mate that all of the Boomtown Rats CDs have been released last week I think. Maybe they do that one he's missing.
Job is working for a software distributor (IT asset management). The guy that runs it was at college with me. Office in Harpenden but realistically I wouldn't be there much. Pay less but potentially more; only about 6 people like GHC when I joined (now 40-odd). It's 90% certain I will take it if I get *the* letter etc etc

Tim: Yes, Andy spotted the BTRats reissues, cheers. Seems odd that it's taken so long, compared to say the number of times that Yes albums have been reissued in the meantime.
Still not too sure what the job is, but the wouldn't-be-there-much aspect sounds ideal.

Steve: Well it would be a pre-sales/post-sales Support, onsite install/configure type thing.
Yes we can give the Monolake a go.

nick: blimey steve, sounds like things might actually be happening then. What are you going to say when he offers you a bonus for staying? You said you wouldn't be there much, where would you be, working at home? or on customer site?
10.30 on saturday morning should be fine. I'll put some butter on the pedals for you, might make them less manky.
9.30 tonight should be ok for CC
I think I can see the appeal of solid-state music players.. I've got 10 CDs on a 1GB MD [warning:abbreviation overload - ed] - and it's still only half full. Dead handy at work when I want to listen to something without having a bunch of MDs or CDs to swap around. Sound is indistinguishable from CD quality though, which I don't think would be the case for iPod.

Tim: The ipod shuffle could be a hoot, let it choose what tracks you're going to hear. And ,er, try and guess what it is that's playing.
nick: phil's got an iPod shuffle, he likes it. Doubles up as a memory stick, which is an excuse for getting one. Maybe the shuffle thing would be interesting if you filled it up with Jubilee edition etc..
Steve: My only comment on iPods is that they could become one big compilation album. I strongly believe in the discipline of listening to albums in their entirety (with some exceptions of course). One of the guys here admits to periods of endless track skipping to find something he wants. Random sounds like fun though.
Job: customer sites mainly I reckon. Once I'm going, I'm not to be dissauded. Passed a phone technical interview with one of the software vendors and Paul knows me. Meeting some others tomorrow.

Tim: Nick, is memory stick better than removable USB drive then, which MD does?
Steve, no dissuasion going on here, but what's the attraction?

Steve: Attractions:
Harpenden when in the office (I can cycle).
Potentially more money.
Potentially share ownership
Helping to run things
I like and have confidence in Paul to make money and grow the company.
I'm not too happy here. I need to get away - Nick can tell you in confidence
