Steve: 33 miles a day
I picked up a MTB magazine last night from Nov 04 and it had a section on this very route. They really rate it but have it as a 3-day event that is not easy. Looking at the pictures it's pretty hilly and that knocks your average and stamina right down.
Been having fun with the extension wiring. The electrician is coming on Friday to connect it up and replace the fuse box. I thought I'd better check that the ring I put in was actually a ring, ie the loop is complete. And no it wasn't. After some diagnosis with a battery and voltmeter I found in one length the neutral wire was broken. Yes, under the newly-laid floor! So I've had a couple of evenings work ripping up other rooms to route a new cable. Roll on Saturday when it's all behind me.

Tim: We've walked a few of the nearer bits, and some of the hills are catastrophic. That's assuming you always go for the crest, there may be alternatives?
nick: Well, I reckon we ought to book a date in the diary and plan on doing it, or some of it. How about the weekend of the last bank holiday in May (29-ish?). Let's see those excuses now...
nick: btw tim I'm getting mail notifications of comments, but not of new posts. I.e. I'm seeing the replies but not the topics.

Tim: Can't think of any excuses. Yet.
And: notifications of comments, yes, that was what was on offer. The other alternative was the blog (all of it?) whenever there was a post, or something like that.

Tim: Nick, where did you hear of gmailomatic? Looks like it must be a well-known source because, judging by the graph on their site, turnover has gone through the roof in the last couple of days.
nick: came across mention of the gmail thing on a Gentoo forum, when I was searching for answers about how to get sound working properly on my linux system. Perhaps a lot of people have problems with sound on Gentoo!
nick: blimey you're right, the stats show a lot of usage. I think I came across it a few days ago, and then they had between 0 and 7 invites going begging as I refreshed the page. I wonder if google are using themselves as a way of boosting subscribers.
incidentally, I'm around on Friday evening for CC if you're up for it, Tim.
